The sensor outputs an analog voltage that scales 10 mV per degree Celsius. At 25°C you'd read 0.75 V on the pin — no I2C or SPI to configure, just a direct line into an ADC channel. That ±1°C band covers most indoor and enclosure-temperature monitoring; the wider tolerance at the extremes still works for over-temperature protection thresholds where a few degrees of guard band are acceptable. The analog output means no digital noise coupling into the measurement path — useful when the sensor shares a board with a switching regulator or a motor driver.

Shutdown mode — saving power between readings

A shutdown mode lets you cut the sensor's power consumption between measurement cycles. For a battery-powered logger that wakes every 10 seconds, reads temperature, and goes back to sleep, this feature stretches the run time significantly — the sensor draws near-zero current in shutdown versus its normal operating current. The SC-70-5 package is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron and a steady hand — no hot-air station required. The 5-pin footprint is compact enough for tight layouts but still probe-friendly with a multimeter.
