Product details

Analog temp sensor with a clean output slope

The MCP9700BT-E/LTVAO is a Microchip analog local temperature sensor that outputs a voltage proportional to temperature at 10 mV/°C. No digital interface, no I²C or SPI — just a DC voltage that an ADC reads directly. That ±4°C at the extremes is the datasheet's guaranteed limit — expect better in the middle of the band, but budget the full ±4°C if your system sees the temperature corners.

SC-70-5 — small enough to tuck anywhere

Housed in a 5-lead SC-70-5 (also called SOT-353), the MCP9700BT-E/LTVAO takes up about 2 mm × 2 mm of board area. The leads are on a 0.65 mm pitch — hand-solderable with a fine tip, and the pin 1 marker is a chamfered corner on the top mold, visible under magnification. Surface-mount only; no through-hole option. Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR), so it feeds straight into a pick-and-place machine. No tube or tray option on this suffix — if you need a handful for prototyping, expect to depanel from reel or request cut tape.

Shutdown mode for battery-conscious designs

The shutdown mode feature lets you pull the output to a high-impedance state and drop the supply current to near-zero — useful in battery-powered gear that wakes periodically to take a temperature reading, then sleeps. The analog output settles quickly on wake; no long startup delay typical of digital sensors.
