The MCP4532T-503E/MS is a single-channel digital rheostat (two-terminal variable resistor) with a 50 kΩ end-to-end resistance and 129 wiper taps. That works out to about 390 Ω per step — fine enough for precision bias trimming or volume control where a 64-tap part would leave a noticeable gap between adjacent settings. The linear taper means the resistance changes uniformly with tap position; no pseudo-log curve baked in. If you need a log response for audio, you compensate in the host firmware or pick a different taper variant in the MCP45XX family.
