Active production — BOM-fit for new designs
The MCP1826S-1202E/AB is an active-production LDO from Microchip Technology, carrying no end-of-life risk for current or new BOM lines. It delivers a fixed 1.2V output at 1A continuous from a maximum 6V input rail.
Dropout and headroom — sizing the input rail
Maximum dropout voltage is 0.4V at 1A load. Quiescent current is 220 µA typical, which sets the no-load power dissipation floor for battery-powered or always-on applications.
Temperature grade and protection — industrial duty
Built-in protection includes over-temperature shutdown, short-circuit current limiting, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) — the regulator recovers automatically when the fault clears, eliminating the need for external supervisory circuitry.
PSRR and ripple rejection — analog supply rail use
Power-supply rejection ratio is 60 dB at 100 Hz. This attenuates 100 Hz/120 Hz ripple from a rectified AC source or switching pre-regulator by a factor of 1000, making the part suitable for powering noise-sensitive analog loads such as op-amp rails or ADC reference buffers.
Package and board integration — TO-220-3
Supplied in a TO-220-3 through-hole package (supplier device package TO-220-3). Shipped in tube packaging; the through-hole format allows hand-assembly and rework without specialized equipment.
