Regulator selection note
The MCP1826-3302E/AT is a fixed 3.3 V output, 1 A LDO regulator in a TO-220-5 through-hole package. Quiescent current is 220 µA typical, a figure that matters for always-on rails in battery-powered equipment where the regulator's own draw competes with the load's sleep current.
PSRR and noise-sensitive rails
Power supply rejection ratio is 60 dB at 100 Hz. This attenuates 100 Hz ripple from a mains-derived rectifier by a factor of 1000 — a 10 mVpp ripple on the input becomes 10 µVpp at the output, suitable for powering analog front-ends or reference circuits that cannot tolerate line-frequency noise. The single regulator output is configured as positive fixed 3.3 V. Control features include an enable pin for sequenced power-up and a power-good output for reset or supply-rail monitoring. Protection covers over-temperature, short-circuit, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO), eliminating the need for external supervisory circuits in most designs.
Product status is active per Microchip Technology. The TO-220-5 package is a standard through-hole footprint with a metal tab for heat sinking. The supplier device package designation matches the package/case — TO-220-5. For a 1 A load at 1.7 V dropout (Vin=5 V, Vout=3.3 V), the power dissipation is 1.7 W; a heatsink with adequate thermal resistance keeps the junction below the 125°C maximum.
