Dual 4.5A low-side driver for IGBT/MOSFET gates
The MCP14A0453T-E/SN is a dual-channel low-side gate driver from Microchip, delivering 4.5 A peak source and sink current per channel. The 12 ns typical rise and fall time lets it switch IGBT or MOSFET gates fast enough to keep transition losses low in a 100 kHz+ PWM stage. The inverting input means a logic-high on the input turns the output off — useful when the upstream controller holds its pins high during reset.
The 8-SOIC package (0.154" width, 3.90 mm body) is a standard footprint — two-layer boards fan out the pins easily, and the 1.27 mm pitch suits manual rework or automated assembly. The logic thresholds are 0.8 V for VIL and 2.0 V for VIH, which means a 3.3 V microcontroller output drives it directly — no level shifter needed between the MCU and the gate driver. Each channel operates independently, so one driver can gate a high-side bootstrap while the other drives a synchronous rectifier, as long as both are referenced to ground.
ROHS3 compliant, with no restricted substances above the threshold.
