Mid-density IGLOO2 fabric for industrial control and comms
The Microchip M2GL060-FCSG325I is an IGLOO2 FPGA with 56520 logic elements and 1869824 bits of total RAM, targeting designs that need more fabric than the 27696-element M2GL025 but don't require a high-end device. The 200 user I/O in a 324-ball BGA package (0.50 mm pitch) demand a 4-layer board minimum for fan-out; two-layer breaks out only the outer rows.
On-chip memory and I/O budget
With 1869824 bits of total RAM, the internal block RAM can handle moderate FIFO depths and small packet buffers without external SRAM. The 200 I/O count supports parallel bus interfaces (e.g., 16-bit DDR, 8-bit flash) while leaving pins for control and status lines. Supply voltage is 1.14 V nominal — a single 1.2 V rail with tight regulation, common on IGLOO2 designs.
This part is still in the standard portfolio, so production runs can commit to it without near-term obsolescence risk.
