EL lamp driver with integrated dimming
The Microchip Technology HV852MG-G is an electroluminescent (EL) lamp driver IC that generates a high-voltage AC waveform from a low-voltage DC supply to drive the capacitive load of an EL panel. The output frequency is programmable from 50 Hz to 500 Hz, matching the typical drive requirements of backlit keypads, LCD displays, and decorative lighting panels. Operating from a 2.4 V to 5 V supply and drawing 15.2 mA typical supply current, the HV852MG-G integrates the switching FET and the output drive stage in a single 8-MSOP package. The dimming input (Yes) allows the lamp brightness to be controlled via an external PWM signal or DC voltage, giving the system designer direct control over the EL panel luminance without additional external components.
Package, temperature grade, and compliance
The HV852MG-G is supplied in an 8-MSOP package (3.00 mm width, 0.118" body width) with a surface-mount footprint. The supplier device package is 8-MSOP, which is the same as the 8-TSSOP package outline per JEDEC MO-187. The operating temperature range is -25°C to 85°C, covering commercial and extended industrial environments without the full automotive temperature grade.
