Five remote channels on a single I²C bus
The Microchip EMC1815T-2E/9R is a five-channel digital remote temperature sensor that monitors its own die temperature plus up to four external diode-connected transistors — think CPU cores, GPU hotspots, or power-stage FETs — over a single I²C/SMBus interface.
What the features mean on a real board
The One-Shot mode lets firmware trigger a single conversion on demand and then put the part into Standby Mode, dropping quiescent current to near-zero between reads — a practical fit for battery-powered gear that polls temperature every few seconds. Programmable Limit registers let you set high/low thresholds per channel; the sensor asserts an alert on the SMBus ALERT line when a reading exceeds the window, offloading the host from polling. The 10-VDFN package (2.5 x 2.0 mm body) saves board area — the exposed pad underneath is the thermal reference for the internal sensor, so the PCB copper pour under the pad should connect to the system ground plane for best accuracy.
