Dual-core dsPIC for motor-drive and digital-power loops
The Microchip DSPIC33CH64MP202T-I/SS is a 16-bit dual-core dsPIC digital signal controller from the dsPIC 33CH Functional Safety (FuSa) series. The peripheral set is built for closed-loop control: Motor Control PWM channels, Quadrature Encoder Interface (QEI), DMA, and a 23-channel 12-bit ADC plus 4-channel 12-bit DAC.
28-SSOP — I/O count and board-area trade-off
The 28-lead SSOP (5.30 mm body width) exposes 21 general-purpose I/O. That is enough for a three-shunt motor-current sense + encoder + one UART and one SPI bus, but tight if you also need an external serial Flash, a display, and a CAN transceiver. Designs that exceed 21 I/O should look at the 44-pin TQFP or 48-pin QFN variants in the same dsPIC33CH family.
