HCSL signal integrity and supply versatility
The DSC8124BI2: HCSL (High-Speed Current Steering Logic) output delivers a differential clock with typical 0.7 V swing into 50 Ω to ground — the same signalling level used by PCIe reference clocks, making this oscillator a natural fit for automotive PCIe bridges or SerDes PHY reference inputs. The enable/disable function (pin-controlled) allows the clock to be gated off in low-power standby states without a separate load switch. Current consumption maxes at 42 mA across the full frequency band, so the thermal rise in the plastic 6-SMD package stays within the derating envelope even at 85°C ambient.
Blank-programmable — design-in workflow
This part is shipped blank (unprogrammed), meaning the target frequency is written by the designer via Microchip's field-programmable MEMS oscillator programmer or pre-programmed by the distributor at order time. The blank (User Must Program) designation gives BOM flexibility: a single line item covers multiple frequency variants in prototype builds, and the final frequency is locked at the programming step.
