Programmable MEMS architecture
The DSC8122DI2: The part ships as a blank device — the end user programs the output frequency from 10 MHz to 460 MHz using Microchip's TimeFlash or a compatible programmer. This lets a single BOM line cover multiple frequency variants, reducing qualification overhead per SKU.
LVPECL output and supply flexibility
LVPECL differential output delivers the low-jitter, fast-edge clock needed for high-speed serial links (GbE, PCIe, SATA) where a single-ended CMOS clock would degrade the eye diagram. The 58 mA max supply current is typical for this output type at the upper end of the frequency range.
Package and board integration
Surface-mount assembly with no lead protrusion simplifies reflow and inspection.
