What the LVPECL output and AEC-Q100 rating mean for the BOM
The DSC8102AI5-PROGRAMMABLE: That differential pair terminates into 50 Ω to VCC-2 V, so the receiving IC's input stage must be LVPECL-compatible or have an AC-coupled level translator; a single-ended CMOS input will not read the signal correctly. In an ECU or sensor module that sees under-hood thermal cycling, the stability spec means the clock does not drift outside the CAN or Ethernet PHY's ppm tolerance over the life of the vehicle. The standby function (pin-controlled) drops supply current from 58 mA max to 95 µA max — the oscillator stops and the output goes into high-impedance. For a module that is bus-sleeping most of the time, that 57.9 mA saving per clock tree matters at the system power budget, not just the oscillator itself.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
No pin-compatible direct replacement from Microchip has been announced, so any BOM line using this part will require a qualification cycle for a substitute.
