MEMS resonator vs quartz — what changes for the BOM
The DSC8101BL2: It is a blank (user-programmable) device: you order the unprogrammed part and configure the output frequency via Microchip's programming tools. The available frequency range spans 10 MHz to 170 MHz, covering most common clock rates for MCUs, FPGAs, and Ethernet PHYs.
A standby (disable) function drops the current to 95 µA max, which matters for battery-powered or duty-cycled systems where the oscillator is gated off between active periods.
Temperature grade and frequency stability
Operating temperature range is -40°C to +105°C — industrial grade with margin above the standard 85°C ceiling. No special layout rules beyond the usual bypass capacitor at the supply pin.
