MEMS timing for industrial and comms boards
The DSC8101AI2: Unlike a fixed-frequency quartz oscillator, this part ships as a blank device — the buyer must program the target frequency using Microchip's TimeFlash or a compatible programmer before placement.
Supply voltage and power-down flexibility
The standby function (pin 1) drops the oscillator into a low-power state, useful for battery-backed real-time clocks or power-gated subsystems where the clock must stop but the supply rail stays live. Maximum supply current of 35 mA at full speed and load sets the ceiling for the power budget — actual draw varies with frequency and output load capacitance.
The surface-mount package is compatible with reflow soldering; no special handling beyond standard MSL precautions is required for this MEMS device.
