Obsolete part — sourcing path for sustainment
Microchip Technology has marked the DSC6023JI2A-00A4T as Obsolete. This means the manufacturer no longer produces the device, and no last-time-buy window remains open.
Dual-output MEMS clock in a 2.5×2.0 mm footprint
The MEMS resonator eliminates the quartz-crystal start-up time and vibration sensitivity — useful in compact portable or industrial designs where a crystal's mechanical fragility is a concern.
Board-fit and layout considerations
The 4-VLGA package has a 0.50 mm pitch land pattern — a 2-layer board with adequate ground pour under the device handles the fan-out. Output is CMOS, so the trace impedance is not critical below 50 MHz, but keep the clock trace short (< 25 mm) to avoid edge-rate ringing into the receiver. The dual outputs can drive separate clock domains — for example, 25 MHz to the MCU core and 20 MHz to a USB peripheral — without an external fan-out buffer.
