Quad-output MEMS oscillator for multi-rail timing
The DSC400-1133Q0079KE2 is a MEMS-based XO (Standard) oscillator from Microchip that delivers four independent clock outputs from a single 20-VFQFN package: two at 100MHz, one at 66.666MHz, and one at 25MHz. With a ±25 ppm frequency stability and a 2.25V to 3.6V supply range, this part covers 2.5V and 3.3V logic rails without an external regulator — a common requirement in Ethernet switch, FPGA, and base-station timing trees.
20-VFQFN exposed-pad layout and thermal management
The 20-VFQFN package with exposed pad (5.00mm x 3.20mm body, 0.90mm height) requires a thermal via array under the pad for both heat sinking and mechanical solder-joint reliability — a standard four-layer board with a ground-plane via pattern meets the recommended land pattern. The 0.50mm pitch QFN demands careful solder-paste stencil design to avoid bridging on the perimeter pads; the exposed pad's solder coverage should be 50–70% per IPC-7525 guidelines.
