MEMS resonator, no quartz ageing concerns
That means no frequency drift from crystal ageing, no start-up reliability issues in cold, and better shock/vibration tolerance than a quartz can. Output is LVCMOS at 20 MHz, a common clock frequency for MCUs, FPGAs, and Ethernet PHYs.
Supply voltage spans 2.5V to 3.3V — one part covers both 2.5V and 3.3V logic rails, reducing BOM line count. Maximum current draw is 7.5 mA — low enough for battery-powered designs where the clock tree is always on.
Housed in a 4-VLGA (2.50 mm x 2.00 mm x 0.89 mm max height). That's a small land-grid array with four pads on the bottom. Reflow profile follows standard JEDEC for LGA packages; hot-air rework is possible but the tiny footprint means you want a fine tip and steady hands.
Product status is Active from Microchip Technology.
