What this MEMS oscillator does on your board
The MEMS die is sealed in a 6-SMD no-lead package measuring 3.20 mm x 2.50 mm — roughly half the footprint of a comparable quartz oscillator can. LVDS is the differential signalling standard for high-speed serial links — think PCIe reference clocks, 10GbE SerDes, FPGA transceiver banks, or video interface PLLs. The 212.5 MHz frequency is a common multiple for 10.3125 Gbps SerDes (×48) and aligns with many FPGA transceiver reference clock multipliers.
That's tight enough for most Ethernet and video standards without a TCXO or oven.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-life clock ticking
No last-time-buy window to track. The DSC1123 series is a mature MEMS oscillator family with multiple frequency and stability variants sharing the same 6-pad footprint — if you need a different frequency later, the BOM change is a single line swap.
