MEMS oscillator for extreme-temperature clocking
The DSC1121DM2-014.7456 is a MEMS-based XO (Standard) from Microchip's DSC1121 series, delivering a 14.7456 MHz CMOS output with ±25ppm frequency stability across the full -55°C to 125°C military temperature range. The MEMS resonator gives this oscillator a significant reliability edge over quartz in high-shock and high-vibration environments — no crystal to crack or age-shift under thermal cycling. With a 2.25V to 3.6V supply range, it can be powered directly from a 3.3V or 2.5V rail without an intermediate regulator, saving a component and a PCB via.
Enable/disable function and output drive
CMOS output drives standard logic families directly; the 35mA max supply current is the total device draw at full output load, so budget this into the rail's current capacity.
Housed in a 6-VDFN package measuring 2.50mm x 2.00mm with a 0.90mm seated height, this oscillator fits tight PCB layouts — the 0.098" x 0.079" footprint is roughly the size of a 0805 capacitor.
