MEMS oscillator for extreme-temperature clocks
The DSC1121BM2-025.0000T is a 25 MHz MEMS-based XO (Standard) from Microchip's DSC1121 series, delivering a CMOS output with ±25 ppm frequency stability across the full -55°C to 125°C military temperature range. Unlike quartz-based oscillators, the MEMS resonator offers better resistance to shock and vibration, and a faster startup time — relevant for avionics, downhole instrumentation, and satellite payloads where the board sees wide thermal cycling.
Supply voltage and output drive
The supply range spans 2.25V to 3.6V, covering 2.5V and 3.3V logic rails without an external regulator — one less part on the BOM. Maximum supply current is 35 mA when enabled, and 22 mA when disabled via the Enable/Disable function — the disable current is still present because the MEMS resonator and PLL remain powered, so a true power-down requires switching the supply rail.
Package and board layout fit
Housed in a 6-SMD, no-lead package measuring 5.00mm x 3.20mm with a seated height of 0.90mm — a standard footprint that matches many 5x3.2 mm oscillators, simplifying a drop-in replacement if the BOM changes. Surface-mount assembly with no exposed leads means the package is self-aligning during reflow; the 0.90mm height keeps it below most enclosure standoffs.
