Why MEMS matters for the BOM
A MEMS resonator replaces the quartz blank, so the DSC1121BI1-008.0000 resists 30 g shock and 70 g vibration better than a fundamental-mode crystal — relevant for panel-mount equipment that sees fan vibration or handheld drops. The 22 mA max supply current at 8 MHz is comparable to a standard HCMOS oscillator; the MEMS die does not add a power penalty. Because the output is CMOS, it drives the clock input of most MCUs, FPGAs, and Ethernet PHYs directly — no level translation needed.
