MEMS oscillator with field-programmable frequency
The DSC1101CL3-PROG is a MEMS-based XO (Standard) from Microchip's DSC1101 series, delivering a CMOS output across a 3.3 MHz to 170 MHz range. It ships as a blank device that the user programs to the exact frequency needed, eliminating the lead time and minimum-order constraints of fixed-frequency quartz oscillators. The MEMS resonator is inherently more shock- and vibration-tolerant than quartz, which matters for equipment that sees shipping drops or fan-induced board flex.
Frequency stability is ±20 ppm across the full temperature range, tight enough for most UART, SPI, and CAN clocking without a separate TCXO.
Standby function and package
A Standby (Power Down) pin lets the system shut the oscillator off when the bus is idle, dropping supply current to near zero — useful in battery-powered designs where the clock tree is the largest quiescent draw. Housed in a 6-VDFN package measuring 3.20 mm x 2.50 mm with a seated height of 0.90 mm, it fits tight card-edge layouts and low-profile enclosures.
This part is available for both new designs and ongoing production.
