MEMS clock at 156.25 MHz — what it replaces
The DSC1101AI2-156.2500: 156.25 MHz is the standard reference for 10 GbE and many high-speed serial protocols (PCIe Gen 3, SATA). The MEMS resonator means no external load capacitors — the oscillator is self-contained, unlike a quartz crystal that needs two 10-20 pF caps to ground. CMOS output swings rail-to-rail between 2.25 V and 3.63 V, so it drives a single-ended clock input directly.
Industrial temp and ±25 ppm — the timing budget
At 85°C the frequency drift stays within ±25 ppm of nominal, which is enough margin for a 156.25 MHz SERDES link with a typical total budget. Supply current max is 35 mA at full frequency and load — the MEMS core draws less than a comparable quartz oscillator, which helps keep the local regulator cool in a dense PCB layout.
Standby function and package fit
The DSC1101 series is Microchip's standard MEMS oscillator line; the DSC1101AI2-156.2500 is a current catalog item.
