MEMS clock for 18.432 MHz MCU timing
That frequency is a standard baud-rate generator multiple for UART/USART peripherals — common in MCU boards that need 115200 or 921600 baud without fractional-N PLL jitter. Unlike a quartz crystal oscillator, the MEMS base resonator (PureSilicon™ series) is less sensitive to vibration and shock, and the supply chain is not tied to quartz crystal lead times. The 4-SMD no-lead package (2.50 mm × 2.00 mm) fits the same footprint as many quartz oscillators, so a board designed for a quartz XO can often take this part without a layout change.
For a UART clock, ±50 ppm keeps the bit-error rate below 1% at 115200 baud across the full temperature band, assuming the receiver's tolerance is ±2%.
