It is a direct functional replacement for a quartz crystal oscillator module in the same 4-SMD, no-lead footprint — same pinout, same 10 MHz frequency, same ±50 ppm stability. The MEMS resonator eliminates quartz start-up issues and is less sensitive to vibration and shock, which matters in portable or industrial equipment that sees mechanical stress.
Standby function and current budget
A dedicated standby (power-down) pin pulls the oscillator into a 1 µA max disable current state, cutting the 3 mA max active draw by three orders of magnitude. For a battery-powered sensor that wakes every few seconds to sample and transmit, the standby current is below the battery's self-discharge rate — the oscillator itself does not drain the cell between active cycles.
