For a CAN bus node running at 32 MHz, that keeps the bit-time jitter within the transceiver's tolerance window — no need for a separate PLL to clean up the clock. That disable current is low enough to leave the oscillator powered from a battery-backed rail during sleep without draining the coin cell.
