MEMS timing for automotive and industrial clocks
The DSC1001DL2-040.0000T is a 40 MHz MEMS-based oscillator from Microchip's DSC1001 family, delivering a CMOS output from a 1.8V to 3.3V supply rail. The MEMS resonator replaces the quartz crystal, eliminating cold-start frequency drift and shock-induced failure modes common in crystal oscillators. AEC-Q100 qualification means the part has passed automotive-grade reliability stress tests — thermal cycling, ESD, and latch-up — required for under-hood and cabin-domain electronics.
Standby power-down and supply flexibility
A standby (power-down) function on pin 1 drops the supply current to 15 µA max, allowing the oscillator to be gated off during system sleep without a separate enable switch. Active current draw is 7.2 mA max at 40 MHz — low enough for a 3.3V rail shared with the MCU without a dedicated LDO. The 1.8V to 3.3V supply range means the same BOM line serves 1.8V core-logic and 3.3V I/O domains, reducing inventory line items.
Housed in a 4-SMD no-lead package measuring 2.50 mm x 2.00 mm with a seated height of 0.90 mm, this oscillator fits space-constrained designs like automotive camera modules or handheld instruments. Surface-mount assembly with standard reflow profiles — no special handling beyond MSL level 1 moisture sensitivity typical for MEMS oscillators.
Suitable for new designs and production builds. Supplied in tape and reel (TR) packaging for automated pick-and-place.
