AEC-Q100 MEMS oscillator for automotive timing
The DSC1001BI5-030.0000T is a 30 MHz MEMS-based XO from Microchip's DSC1001 series, delivering CMOS output with ±10 ppm frequency stability across -40°C to 85°C. Its AEC-Q100 qualification means it's tested for automotive-grade reliability — under-hood temperature cycling, vibration, and extended life — making it a fit for engine ECUs, ADAS sensor modules, and body controllers where a quartz crystal's shock sensitivity or aging drift would be a risk.
Supply flexibility and power budget
Operating from a single 1.8V to 3.3V rail, this oscillator bridges 1.8V-core MCUs and 3.3V peripheral logic without a separate level translator. Maximum supply current is 7.2 mA — low enough for a battery-backed RTC module or a CAN transceiver node that stays powered during sleep. The standby (power-down) function drops draw to 15 µA max, preserving the coin cell in an always-on telematics unit.
Housed in a 4-SMD no-lead package measuring 5.00 mm x 3.20 mm with a seated height of 0.90 mm, the DSC1001BI5-030.0000T fits standard oscillator footprints. The MEMS resonator eliminates the need for external load capacitors — the oscillator's internal PLL and trim circuits set the frequency, so the layout is a simple power-and-output trace pair.
