Why a MEMS oscillator instead of a quartz crystal
The DSC1001AI2-016.3840 uses a MEMS resonator rather than a quartz crystal — the MEMS die is inherently more resistant to shock and vibration, which matters in an engine-bay or transmission-mounted ECU where quartz can fracture under sustained g-load. It is a standard XO (oscillator) with CMOS output, so it replaces a crystal plus load-cap pair with a single package that includes the MEMS resonator and the oscillator circuit.
AEC-Q100 qualification and temperature grade
If the ECU ambient exceeds 85°C, this part is not the fit.
Standby current and supply flexibility
The standby (power down) function drops supply current to 15 µA max — useful for modules that stay connected to battery but only wake on a CAN message or ignition event. Supply voltage range is 1.8V to 3.3V, so the same oscillator works across a 3.3V main rail and a 1.8V standby rail without a separate level translator.
