2Kbit serial EEPROM for configuration and calibration data
The Microchip AT93C56B-SSHM-B is a 2Kbit non-volatile EEPROM organized as 256 x 8 or 128 x 16 bits, accessed through a 3-wire serial interface. It stores calibration constants, serial numbers, or small lookup tables in industrial control, telecom, and sensor modules where the microcontroller has limited GPIO. The 2 MHz clock rate supports fast readout for power-up parameter loading without holding the host in reset.
The supply range covers 1.8V, 3.3V, and 5V logic rails without a level shifter, simplifying BOM integration. The 5 ms write cycle time per word or page means the host must wait for the write-complete cycle; polling the READY/BUSY status via the data output pin avoids a fixed delay.
