The Microchip AT24C512C-XHD-T is a 512 Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 64 K x 8 bits, accessed over an I²C bus at up to 1 MHz. It stores configuration parameters, calibration data, or firmware lookup tables that need non-volatile retention across power cycles.
1 MHz clock — the speed advantage over the 400 kHz sibling
This part clocks at 1 MHz on the I²C bus, more than double the 400 kHz of the AT24C512C-SHM-T. For a 512 Kbit read or write, that cuts the bus-occupancy time roughly in half — relevant when the MCU polls the EEPROM during a time-critical loop or when logging sensor data at high rates. The 550 ns access time per byte is standard for this density; the speed gain comes from the faster serial clock, not the internal read cycle.

The 8-TSSOP package has a 0.173" body width and 4.40 mm pitch. The pin 1 indicator is a dot or notch at the top-left corner when viewed from above.
