Product details

100-VQFP package — what it means on the bench

The A3PN250-VQG100I comes in a 100-VQFP (14x14 mm) — a fine-pitch quad flat pack with exposed leads on all four sides. The 0.5 mm pitch means the hot-air nozzle needs a focused shroud to avoid reflowing adjacent passives, but the leads are visible for inspection and touch-up. Pin 1 is marked with a chamfered corner and a dot on the package top; the orientation is unambiguous under a stereo microscope. The 68 I/O fan out to the inner and outer rows of the VQFP. The pad layout is standard for the 100-VQFP footprint; the datasheet recommended land pattern keeps the trace escape manageable on a two-layer board. No exposed thermal pad underneath, so the die heat exits through the leads and the board copper — keep the ground plane solid under the package.

Active production — sourcing for the BOM line

Microchip lists the A3PN250-VQG100I as Active. The 1.425 V to 1.575 V core supply is a single rail — no separate VCCIO or VCCAUX needed for the ProASIC3 nano family. The 250,000 gates and 36,864 bits of RAM are enough for glue logic, state machines, and small FIFO buffers.
