Low-voltage 2Kbit I²C EEPROM for 1.8V rails
The 24VL024HT/SN is a 2Kbit serial EEPROM from Microchip's 24VL family, communicating over the I²C bus at up to 400 kHz. Its standout feature is the 1.5V to 3.6V supply range — it runs directly off a 1.8V logic rail or a single Li-ion cell without a regulator. Organised as 256 x 8 bits, it stores calibration constants, configuration bytes, or small lookup tables. The 900 ns access time is typical for I²C EEPROMs at this density; the bus speed, not the access time, sets the read throughput ceiling.
Supply voltage and temperature envelope
The 1.5V minimum supply is the main parametric delta versus the standard 24LC series (2.5V min). That half-volt headroom matters when the rail is a 1.8V LDO or a battery dropping to 1.8V under load. The 3.6V ceiling covers 3.3V systems with margin.
Housed in an 8-SOIC (0.154" body width, 3.90 mm wide) — the standard narrow SOIC footprint. The package is MSL1, so no bake-out required before reflow. Hand-soldering is straightforward: a fine chisel tip at 350°C, 2–3 seconds per pin. The 1.27 mm pitch gives plenty of room for probe points or a rework iron. If you lift a pad, the adjacent pin is far enough away to bodge a flywire without shorting.
