100 V, 1 A Schottky — fast switching with a low forward drop
The 1N6761/TR is a 100 V, 1 A Schottky rectifier from Microchip Technology in the DO-204AL (DO-41) axial package. Its 690 mV maximum forward drop at 1 A keeps conduction losses lower than a comparable PN-junction diode, which matters for rectifier stages where efficiency drives thermal budget. The fast-recovery classification (≤500 ns, >200 mA) means it handles switching frequencies well above line frequency without excessive reverse-recovery losses — suited for freewheeling or output rectification in 100 V-class DC-DC converters and flyback supplies.
Junction temperature and leakage — the thermal trade-off
The 100 µA reverse leakage at 100 V is specified at room temperature; expect leakage to rise exponentially with junction temperature — at 125°C it can increase by an order of magnitude, so the thermal design should derate the reverse voltage if the diode runs hot. Junction capacitance is 70 pF at 5 V reverse bias and 1 MHz. This capacitance charges and discharges each switching cycle, adding a frequency-dependent loss term. In a 500 kHz converter the capacitive switching loss is small relative to the conduction loss, but above 1 MHz it starts to eat into efficiency.
Active lifecycle and tape-and-reel supply
Supplied in tape and reel (TR) packaging, the axial leads are formed for automated insertion or hand assembly. The DO-41 body is a standard through-hole footprint that mates with existing PTH layouts and wave-solder processes.
