What the 80 V / 1 A rating means for your rectifier stage
The 1N6760 is a Schottky barrier rectifier rated for 80 V DC reverse and 1 A average forward current — a combination that puts it squarely in low-to-mid voltage rail rectification, freewheeling, and polarity protection roles where you want the Schottky's low forward drop over a PN junction. The 690 mV max forward voltage at 1 A (Vf) means conduction loss stays under 700 mW at full load — manageable in free air through the DO-41 lead frame if the ambient stays under 85 °C, but derate above that per the junction limit of -65 to 150 °C.
Fast recovery — why it matters here
The speed spec — fast recovery ≤500 ns at >200 mA — is unusual for a Schottky, which normally recovers in nanoseconds. This suggests the part is a soft-recovery or controlled-recovery Schottky, or the recovery time is measured at a non-standard test condition. Either way, 500 ns is still fast enough for 50/60 Hz line rectification and low-frequency switching supplies, but not for a high-frequency SMPS where you expect a Schottky to switch in tens of nanoseconds.
Through-hole DO-41 — board integration
The 100 µA max reverse leakage at 80 V is typical for a 1 A Schottky at this voltage; expect it to climb with junction temperature, so keep the leads short and the board copper pour under the body to sink heat.
