Rectifier ratings and what they mean for the BOM
The 1N6662/TR is a standard recovery rectifier rated for 400 V reverse voltage and 500 mA average rectified current — the blocking voltage covers 240 VAC rectified rails with margin, while the current handles low-power DC supplies and auxiliary bias circuits. Its recovery speed is specified as standard recovery (>500 ns, >200 mA Io), meaning it is not intended for high-frequency switching supplies but is a good fit for 50/60 Hz line rectification, freewheeling, and polarity protection where switching losses are not the limiting factor. Forward voltage is 1 V maximum at 400 mA — at 500 mA the conduction drop is slightly higher, so the thermal budget at full rated current should include a 0.5 W dissipation figure in still air. Reverse leakage is 50 nA at 400 V — this is low enough that leakage-induced self-heating is negligible in the operating range, even at elevated junction temperatures.
The 1N6662/TR comes in a DO-204AH (DO-35) axial-lead package, through-hole mount. The 0.020-inch diameter leads fit standard 0.031-inch PCB holes; the body length is about 0.166 inches, so the part sits low on the board and is suitable for point-to-point wiring or perforated prototyping boards. Supplied in tape-and-reel format (TR suffix) — the reel quantity is 2,000 pieces per 7-inch reel, which suits medium-volume assembly without frequent reel changes.
