The 1N6634US is a 3.9 V Zener diode rated for 5 W continuous power dissipation. That 5 W ceiling means the device can handle sustained reverse-bias current without exceeding the junction temperature limit — useful for clamping or regulation in a high-ambient environment like an engine bay or industrial control cabinet.
Package and mounting
Supplied in a SQ-MELF, E case (supplier device package D-5B) — a surface-mount hermetic package. The MELF barrel footprint is common for high-reliability Zener and rectifier diodes; the cylindrical body self-centers during reflow, but the lack of flat sides means the pick-and-place nozzle needs a vacuum cup sized for the barrel diameter.
Leakage and forward characteristics
Reverse leakage is 175 µA max at 1 V reverse voltage — a check for low-power standby circuits where the leakage current could eat into the quiescent budget. Forward voltage is 1.5 V max at 1 A, so the diode can also serve as a general-purpose rectifier in a pinch, though the 5 W dissipation limit governs the average forward current.
