880 V / 1 A fast recovery rectifier — A-MELF package
The 1N6623US is a standard fast recovery rectifier diode rated for 880 V DC reverse voltage and 1 A average rectified current, with a 50 ns reverse recovery time. The 50 ns trr puts it in the fast-recovery class (under 500 ns at over 200 mA), making it suitable for high-voltage switching applications where recovery losses matter. Forward voltage is 1.55 V maximum at 1 A, giving a conduction loss of roughly 1.55 W at rated current — the A-MELF glass body's thermal capacity handles that in a well-ventilated assembly. Reverse leakage is 500 nA at 880 V, a tight spec for high-impedance circuits.
Junction temperature and thermal envelope
The A-MELF package (SQ-MELF, variant A) is a hermetic glass body — same die as the through-hole DO-41 version but in a surface-mount footprint suited for high-reliability and sealed assemblies. Junction capacitance is 10 pF at 10 V reverse bias and 1 MHz, a value that matters for high-frequency switching circuits where the diode's own capacitance contributes to the resonant tank or snubber design.
