Transient suppressor for harsh environments
The 1N6468 is a Zener TVS diode from Microchip Technology that clamps transients on DC power rails or signal lines.
Voltage and power ratings that matter
The reverse standoff voltage of 51.6V is the maximum DC or peak AC voltage the diode can withstand without conducting appreciably — pick this to match the nominal rail voltage plus margin. The 78.5V clamping voltage is the peak voltage the protected circuit sees during the pulse; ensure downstream components are rated above this level. Peak pulse power is 500W for a 10/1000µs waveform, with a corresponding peak pulse current of 35A for an 8/20µs waveform. The 500W rating is the headline derating anchor — at elevated ambient temperatures the power capability drops per the datasheet derating curve.
Active production and package availability
Supplied in an Axial leaded package (B, Axial case style), through-hole mount. The package is Bulk, suitable for hand-assembly or wave-solder processes. The base product number is 1N6468.
