1500W surge clamp in a DO-13 can
The 1N6368/TR is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 1500W peak pulse power at 10/1000µs waveform. It clamps transients from a 15V reverse standoff up to 21.4V maximum at 60A peak pulse current. The DO-13 through-hole package handles the thermal pulse energy without secondary breakdown, provided the lead length and PCB copper area keep the junction temperature within the -65°C to 175°C operating range.
Breakdown and clamping margins
Minimum breakdown voltage is 17.6V, giving a 2.6V guard band above the 15V standoff. The maximum clamping voltage of 21.4V at 60A sets the upper limit the downstream circuitry must survive — a 48V bus would be overstressed, but 12V or 24V rails have comfortable margin. No power line protection — this part is intended for signal or low-voltage DC rail transient suppression, not AC mains.
Active production — sourcing posture
Microchip lists the 1N6368/TR as Active. No immediate end-of-life risk — the part remains in the active catalog.
