What the ratings mean on the repair bench
The reverse standoff voltage is 36 V — the rail it protects should sit below that, so a 24 V or 28 V supply is the typical application. Breakdown starts at 42.4 V minimum, and clamping hits 54.3 V at the rated 23 A peak pulse current. The operating junction temperature range is -65°C to 175°C, which covers military and downhole environments without derating.
Package and mounting for the BOM
Supplied in tape and reel (TR) — the DO-13 can body is through-hole, so the reel is for hand-insertion or wave-solder lines, not pick-and-place. The DO-13 package has a metal stud anode and a cathode band; the lead spacing is standard 0.100-inch pitch, which mates with 0.042-inch diameter holes on a 0.062-inch thick board.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
Microchip lists the 1N6363/TR as Active — no end-of-life notice, no successor to chase. The tape-and-reel variant is the production-friendly format; the plain 1N6363 bulk version is the same die and package, just different packaging. Either works on the board.
