30 ns trr — the recovery-speed decision
The 1N6081/TR is a standard fast-recovery diode with a reverse recovery time of 30 ns. This places it in the <500 ns bracket and well below the 200 mA threshold that defines the class. For a switching power supply or motor-drive snubber, the 30 ns trr means the diode exits conduction quickly when the voltage reverses — the stored charge clears fast enough to keep the switching node from ringing into the transistor's SOA. Compare this to a 200 ns general-purpose rectifier: the recovery loss at 50 kHz is roughly 6× higher, so the 1N6081/TR runs cooler in the same circuit.
150 V / 2 A — the continuous-load ceiling
Rated for 150 V reverse voltage and 2 A average rectified current, the 1N6081/TR covers the 48 V and 72 V telecom rails with margin, and handles the 12 V to 24 V industrial supply range comfortably. The 2 A Io is the average over a full cycle — for a 50 % duty square wave, the peak repetitive current can reach 4 A before the junction temperature exceeds the 155 °C limit. The -65°C to 155°C junction range matches military-temperature-grade requirements; the diode operates in an engine bay or an outdoor enclosure without derating the current below 85 °C ambient.
Axial through-hole — board-fit and supply format
The A, Axial package with through-hole mounting is a standard DO-41 or similar body — the leads are 0.025-inch diameter tin-plated copper, spaced 0.200-inch nominal. The Tape & Reel format feeds automated insertion equipment; the reel quantity is typically 5000 pieces per 13-inch reel. For a hand-assembly or rework station, the same part is also available in bulk or cut-tape from the same production lot.
