30 ns recovery — the switching-speed anchor
The 1N6081 is a fast recovery rectifier diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 150 V reverse voltage and 2 A average rectified current. Its 30 ns reverse recovery time (trr) places it in the fast-switching class — suitable for snubber networks, flyback catch diodes, and freewheeling paths where stored charge must clear quickly to limit ringing and overvoltage.
Junction temperature and leakage at the operating point
Reverse leakage is specified at 10 µA at 150 V — this figure rises exponentially with junction temperature, so a hot rectifier in a 125 °C ambient may show significantly higher leakage than the 25 °C datasheet value. The 1.5 V forward drop at 37.7 A is a surge-condition measurement, not continuous duty; at the 2 A average rating the forward voltage is lower, driven by the Vf curve in the product drawing.
Through-hole axial — integration into a wave-solder board
The A, Axial package is a through-hole leaded form factor. It mounts into a drilled PCB and is wave-soldered or hand-soldered — no SMD reflow profile needed. The axial body orients vertically or horizontally depending on lead bend; the bulk packaging means parts arrive loose in a bag or tube, not on tape-and-reel. For a rework lab or low-volume production line, the axial lead makes manual placement and inspection straightforward.
