Fast recovery at 30 ns — the switching edge
The 1N6080 is a fast recovery rectifier diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 100 V reverse voltage and 2 A average rectified current. Its 30 ns reverse recovery time (trr) places it in the fast recovery class, meaning it switches off quickly enough for line-frequency and moderate-speed switching supplies without the stored-charge tail that slows a standard recovery diode.
Through-hole axial — the board-fit story
The A, Axial package is a through-hole leaded format — the body sits above the board, leads bend down into plated holes. This is a workhorse footprint for point-to-point wiring, terminal strips, or through-hole PCB layouts where wave-solder or hand-solder assembly is the norm. The Bulk packaging means the diodes ship loose in a bag or tube, not taped and reeled, so pick-and-place machines cannot feed them without a tube feeder or manual loading.
Junction temperature and leakage — the reliability envelope
The junction operates from -65°C to 155°C, a military-temperature-range span that covers avionics, downhole, and outdoor telecom enclosures where the ambient can swing wide. Reverse leakage is 10 µA max at the rated 100 V blocking voltage — at elevated junction temperature that leakage climbs exponentially, so the thermal design should budget for the increase above 100°C. Forward voltage is 1.5 V max at 37.7 A, a pulsed peak condition; the continuous 2 A average keeps the junction well below that stress level.
