Fast recovery in an axial package
The 1N6076/TR is a standard-technology fast recovery rectifier diode from Microchip Technology, housed in an axial-leaded A-case package rated for a junction temperature range of -65°C to 155°C. Rated for 50 V reverse voltage and 1.3 A average rectified current, this diode suits low-voltage DC bus rectification, freewheeling across relay coils, and snubbing in 12 V or 24 V circuits where the 30 ns trr reduces switching losses compared to a standard recovery part.
What the headline specs mean for your circuit
The 30 ns reverse recovery time is the time the diode takes to sweep stored charge out of the junction and block reverse voltage. In a 50 kHz flyback converter, that 30 ns trr adds roughly 0.15% to the switching period—negligible. But the real constraint is the forward voltage: 1.76 V at 18.8 A pulsed. That is a high Vf for a 1.3 A part, typical of a fast-recovery die optimized for switching speed over conduction loss. At the rated 1.3 A continuous, expect Vf around 1.0-1.2 V, which still means 1.3-1.6 W dissipation—adequate in the axial package with lead-length cooling but not a low-drop choice for a high-efficiency PFC stage. Reverse leakage is 5 µA at 50 V, 25°C. That doubles roughly every 10°C rise in junction temperature; at 125°C it will be in the 200-300 µA range—still acceptable for most bias and snubber circuits but worth derating if the diode sits across a high-impedance node.
