The Microchip Technology 1N6074/TR is a fast recovery rectifier diode rated for 100 V reverse voltage and 850 mA average forward current, with a reverse recovery time of 30 ns.
Ratings that govern the switching loop
In a 100 kHz flyback converter, a 30 ns trr adds roughly 0.3% duty-cycle loss per switching period, which is acceptable for most auxiliary-supply and bias-rail designs. Forward voltage is specified at 2.04 V maximum when pulsed at 9.4 A — this is a surge condition, not continuous. At the rated 850 mA average current, the forward drop is lower, but the 2.04 V figure sets the peak conduction loss during inrush or start-up events. The 1 µA reverse leakage at 100 V and 25°C doubles roughly every 10°C rise, so at 125°C junction the leakage approaches 64 µA — still negligible for most bias circuits but relevant for high-impedance nodes.
Through-hole axial package and procurement posture
The 1N6074/TR is supplied in a through-hole axial-lead package (DO-204AH equivalent), shipped on tape and reel. The axial form factor suits point-to-point wiring, terminal-board assembly, and through-hole PCB layouts where surface-mount reflow is not available.
