1500W Zener TVS – military-grade protection
The 1N6063AE3 is a Zener-type transient-voltage suppressor from Microchip Technology, part of the Military series. It delivers 1500W peak pulse power, clamping a transient at 137V maximum with a reverse standoff of 82V. This is a single bidirectional-channel device, meaning it protects a line against both positive and negative surges without needing a series diode.
82V standoff, 137V clamp – line protection margin
With a reverse standoff voltage of 82V, the 1N6063AE3 sits on a nominal 48V or 60V rail without conducting. The breakdown voltage minimum is 95V, and the clamping voltage at 11A peak pulse current is 137V max – that 42V headroom between standoff and clamp defines the energy the diode absorbs before the protected circuitry sees the full surge. The junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, so the device holds its avalanche characteristic across the full military ambient, from cold-soak to hot-day engine bay.
