Transient protection for 47V rails
This makes it a direct fit for protecting 48V nominal DC buses, telecom supplies, and industrial control rails against transients up to that energy level. The breakdown voltage range starts at 53.2V minimum, so the part begins conducting before the rail exceeds safe limits. The 77V clamp ceiling keeps the downstream components within their voltage tolerance during a surge event.
Temperature range and environment fit
Rated for -55°C to 175°C junction temperature, the 1N6057A suits outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay electronics, and military-grade equipment where ambient extremes are routine. The wide temperature window also means derating for pulse power at elevated temperatures must be checked against the datasheet curve — at 175°C the peak pulse capability drops below the 1500W room-temperature rating.
Package and mounting
Supplied in a DO-13 through-hole package (Bulk), the 1N6057A mounts into a standard 0.100-inch pitch hole pattern. The DO-13 metal can provides good thermal mass for absorbing repetitive pulses, but the lead length and solder fillet quality affect the thermal impedance to the board — keep the leads as short as practical for lowest junction-to-ambient resistance.
Sourcing and production status
Microchip Technology lists the 1N6057A as Active. The part is available for RFQ against BOM quantities; current pricing and lead time are confirmed at quote time through our sourcing desk.
