Zener TVS diode – 37.1V breakdown, 1500W peak pulse
The 1N6053A/TR is a Zener-type transient voltage suppressor from Microchip Technology, designed to clamp transients on supply rails or signal lines up to 33V nominal. Its minimum breakdown voltage is 37.1V, and it clamps at 53.9V when carrying its rated peak pulse current of 28A under the standard 10/1000µs waveform. The 1500W peak pulse power rating defines the energy it can absorb in a single surge — a key number for sizing protection on 24V or 28V DC buses where transients can exceed 40V. This is a bidirectional device, so it clamps both positive and negative transients symmetrically — useful on AC-coupled or floating lines where polarity is not fixed.
DO-13 package – through-hole, tape & reel
The DO-13 is a hermetic metal can with a glass seal — the same package used in many JAN-qualified parts. The through-hole leads suit point-to-point wiring or socketed boards where surface-mount reflow is not an option.
Active lifecycle – no obsolescence risk
The DO-13 package has been in continuous production for decades, so tooling and supply are mature.
